V V F G C PG center was started in the year 2011 with M.Com course and affiliated to University of Mysore. It is housed in Vidyavardhaka First Grade College campus. The Department has highly qualified and committed teaching faculty who are actively engaged in Research activities. The Department also provides campus placement opportunities to its students. The Department is attached to Vidyavardhaka Research Foundation which is the only recognized Research Centre of the affiliate colleges of the University of Mysore. The Research Centre is facilitating Research work leading to Ph.D degrees in Commerce and Management. The VVFGC Post Graduate Centre is situated in the heart of the Mysore city, next to Railway Station and very near to the Private Bus stand, and also one kilometer away from City Bus stand and suburban Bus stand.

Dear students, Heartily welcome to all of you to the arena of Higher Education. Aristotle says “Education is an ornament in prosperity and a refuge in adversity means we are blessed with mental abilities and perception. Aristotle was a great philosopher and introduced the theory of image and action. The edifice of a strong society is transforming image or dreams into reality. This will be achieved through education. Our Institution is not just an overhead infrastructure but a sculptor.
We assume students are like rocks, which can be transformed into sculptures. Higher education is about nurturing character, enriching mind, enhancing knowledge and endeavour an experience that lasts long. We follow and authenticate theology of a Noble Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, that ‘Teaching must be based upon students’ needs, nature and environment.’ The Management of our Institution gives benevolent support to provide quality sustained essential education. We have a culture of adapting new techniques to the flexible metamorphosis for a meaningful and self-motivating future to the poor and needy

Activities
- Commerce forum is acting as a platform for carrying various activities related to contemporary issues in Commerce and Management.
- Department organizes Workshops, Seminars and also conducts various special lectures by inviting resource persons form diverged backgrounds
- The Laptop facility is available in the Department Library wherein the students can borrow laptops for PPT presentations , preparation of Project reports , etc.,
- The Department issues a Library Kit containing semester wise text books (minimum five books) to each student in the beginning of semester which can be retained by the students till the completion of the term end examinations. This provision is made in addition to regular borrowing facility.
- The journal and magazine section of the library is subscribing leading national and international journals along with e-resources and e-library. The students will be given Enlist-Inflibnet facility to access the online books and journals.
- It is the regular feature of the department to conduct one day trip in each semester and also 15 days industrial tour (National tour) to visit important places and also industrial establishments to get hands on experience about the working of industries and corporates.
- Department conducts ample of activities like talents day, fun week, ethnic day etc., in the interest of students.
- A bi-annual News letter ‘VVPGC Image’ is brought out by the Department of Commerce, PG Centre, VVPGC Mysore which comprises a glimpse of activities conducted by the Department during the tenure.
- Department has tied up with an NGO which conducts coaching classes to prepare the students to face different competitive examinations and also helps the students to prepare for NET examinations conducted by UGC.
- Department conducts Computer courses (Tally and Excel) Spoken English , Soft Skill PDP programmes in favor of students well-being.
- The department is committed to help the students to prepare and present the research papers in various seminars, Conferences and Workshops conducted by other Universities / Institutions.
Research
Vidyavardhaka research foundation was established in April 2012 and recognized by the University of Mysore in April 2013 and housed in Vidyavardhaka First Grade college campus. The director of the research center is also the head of the department of PG Department of Commerce. The research center has been established for giving scope for conducting or perusing research particularly in the field of Commerce and Management.
Vidyavardhaka First Grade College PG center is the only affiliated college attached with research center recognized by the University of Mysore. The students can persue research leading to Ph.D degree after M.Com course. Dr.S.Mari Gowda , Prof & Head Of Department of VVFGC,PG Centre, Mysore has been recognized as Research Guide/Supervisor in the subject Commerce and Dr.M.Shivalinge Gowda, Asst Professor, Department Of Commerce has been recognized as Research Guide in the subject of Management . The following candidates are persuing Ph.D Degrees in our Research Centre.
